Exams are finished, summer holidays are on the horizon: it must be prom season. For this bittersweet occasion – celebrating the final days of school life – you’ll want to look your best to leave a lasting impression.
Once the major details are taken care of, such as picking out a frock that makes heads turn and trialling a knock-out hair blowout, it’s time to select your beauty edit. When it comes to make-up, choose a palette that complements your dress without competing for attention.
Our beauty team has selected favourite products that will subtly enhance your make-up and give you a glowing, flawless finish that is picture-perfect even after hours on the dancefloor.
Tip 1: Create Mesmerising Eyes
Our beauty buyer Jess picked the Technic Pressed Pigment in Invite Only: “I love these super creamy eyes shades as you can build them up to create your desired look, whether that’s a soft shimmer or a more intense colour. I like to blend with a brush and then use my fingertip to pat in a little extra shimmer to the centre of the lid.” There is a range of colour palettes available to suit all skin tones.
Enhance your eye make-up by adding Ardell Demi Wispies for show-stopping lashes. Handmade, they include an invisible band for a truly natural look and they’re super easy to apply.
Tip 2: Get Your Glow On
A tip from the professionals is to trial your make-up and see how it looks on camera. Jess says: “The camera flash can make you look a little washed-out in photos. Get a gram-worthy glow by swirling a soft blush on the apples of your cheeks.” We like the Technic Colour Fix Blush Palette. These blushes are highly pigmented and give the option of matte powder in 8 warm pink tones which you can choose to wear alone or blend together to create your own personalised look.
Tip 3: Manicure Magic
Forget worrying about last-minute smudges and chipped nail polish. We recommend the Perfect 10 False Nails in Rose Glitter as a pretty (and quick) alternative. A pack includes a set of 24 nails in 10 sizes and they come in a natural nude colour with a sparkling rose glitter to nail tips.
Tip 4: Senses
“Our sense of smell is so evocative. It can take us back to past memories or make an impression in the moment. As well as perfecting your look for the occasion, don’t forget your signature scent.” says Jess. We suggest the So…? Unique Truffle Cream Body Mist which combines notes of truffle cream, coconut and vanilla. You can wear this scent alone or blend it with another product in the So…? Unique range to make it truly personal to you and the occasion.
Tip 5: Catch the Light
The finishing touch is adding a subtle shimmer for an eye-catching glow. We like the Technic Shimmer Skin Face & Body Mist (IREC 2093). It comes in two shades: opt for a golden shimmer with Sunrise or a deeper bronze glow with Sunset. Spritz a gentle mist over face, décolleté and arms.
